Section 2. How we change for 2008

Do not rely on these change descriptions; this Section is not an official statement of benefits. For that, go to Sections 5 Benefits. Also, we edited and clarified language throughout the brochure; any language change not shown here is a clarification that does not change benefits.

Program-wide changes

  • Texas and West Virginia were removed from the list for 2008 of medically underserved areas.

  • United States Postal Service non-law enforcement career employees may now be covered either by Postal Category 1 or Postal Category 2 premium rates. See page 102.

Changes to this Plan

Changes to our High Option only

  • Your share of the Postal premium will decrease for Self Only or decrease for Self and Family (see page 102).
  • Your share of the non-Postal premium will decrease for Self Only or decrease for Self and Family (see page 102).
  • The Plan has made many changes to its PPO networks for 2008. See page 6 to determine whether there has been a change in the network for your state. If so, the Plan encourages you to use the online PPO directory on its Web page, or to call your PPO administrator to verify that your providers are participating in your new network.
  • The Plan has changed its vendor for obtaining precertification and/or preauthorization of services. See Section 3, pages 11 through 13 before obtaining hospital or medical services that require precertification and/or preauthorization to make sure you are contacting the appropriate source.
  • The Plan has changed its vendor for Disease Management. See Section 5, see page 48 for contact information.

Changes to our Consumer Driven Health Plan

  • Your share of the Postal premium will increase for Self Only or increase for Self and Family (see page 102).
  • Your share of the non-Postal premium will decrease for Self Only or decrease for Self and Family (see page 102).
  • There is a new CDHP Preferred rates category. These rates apply to career postal employees represented by the APWU (including MDC, HQ Operating Services and IT/ASC) and the National Postal Professional Nurses Union (NPPN) who meet certain eligibility requirements. Please refer to the rate page for premium and to find out how to determine eligibility.
