The APWU Health Plan offers its members enhanced benefits when they voluntarily choose to utilize the services of doctors, hospitals and other providers who participate with the Plan's Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) networks. Nationwide, the Plan's PPO Network offers the services of over 5,400 participating hospitals and over 563,000 participating physicians.

The Health Plan has a PPO network available in every state, plus Washington, DC, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The networks include primary care physicians, specialists, outpatient facilities such as labs and surgery centers, and inpatient facilities as well. Additionally, the Plan offers the services of ValueOptions, a nationwide PPO network specializing in the treatment of mental conditions and substance abuse. Members who utilize Preferred Providers receive the advantage of discounted pricing by the providers, automatic claims submission to the Health Plan, and a higher rate of payment for covered services.

To offer the best possible selection of providers for members across the country, the APWU Health Plan has contracted with different medical PPO networks in different states. Members are free to use any Plan PPO Provider. Anytime you leave your state of residence, Cigna is APWU Health Plan's TRAVEL network. When you are traveling, call Cigna at 800/582-1314 to locate PPO providers. Cigna's number is also on your Member ID card sleeve.
