The APWU Health Plan has relaxed requirements for members living in areas affected by natural disasters in California and Alaska.
Alaska
For members of both the High Option and Consumer Driven Option plans, the Plan will relax Plan requirements for care received between November 30 and December 29, 2018.
For supplies and medications: The Plan will waive “refill too soon” limitations for members who are unable to use the mail order service for refills or for lost or destroyed medications.
These changes apply to members who live in the following counties: Anchorage, Kenai Peninsula, Forest, Valdez Cordova, Cayuga, Bristol Bay, Lake and Peninsula, Aitkin, Rio Grande, Matanuska-Susitna, Indiana, Aleutians East, Worcester, Taos, Ulster, Sullivan, Fairbanks North Star, Denali, District of Columbia, North Slope, Southeast Fairbanks, Gove, Northwest Arctic, and Johnson.
California
For members of both the High Option and Consumer Driven Option plans, the Plan has relaxed plan requirements for care received between November 9 and December 9, 2018.
The Plan has relaxed the precertification requirements for all types of care (medical and mental health) and will make payment at the higher PPO rate to any provider of service regardless of their non-network status. This timeframe may be adjusted, and additional areas added, if the situation warrants it.
For supplies and medications: The Plan has waived “refill too soon” limitations for members who are unable to use the mail order service for refills or for lost or destroyed medications.
