Eligibility and enrollment
You don’t need to work for the U.S. Postal Service to enroll in APWU Health Plan. As part of enrollment, you will become an associate member of the American Postal Workers Union and be billed a $35 fee.
Enroll in your FEHB health plan
As a federal employee, there are two times you can enroll in APWU Health Plan:
- Enroll during Open Season, from the Monday of the second full work week in November through the Monday of the second full work week in December.
- Enroll outside of Open Season. New employees, employees who are newly eligible, and those who have a qualifying life event (QLE)—such as marriage, divorce, or birth—may enroll within 60 days of becoming eligible or within 60 days of the QLE.
