If you're eligible for PSHB, you can enroll in APWU Health Plan

APWU Health Plan offers a High Option and Consumer Driven Option. Both plans are open to all PSHB-eligible employees.

Enroll in APWU Health Plan

As an active postal worker, there are two times you can enroll in APWU Health Plan:

Enroll in your PSHB health plan outside of Open Season

If you are newly hired and need to enroll in health insurance, or if you experience a qualifying life event (QLE)—such as marriage, birth of a child, or loss of other coverage—you can make changes outside of Open Season.

To enroll as a new career employee, visit the Health Benefits Enrollment Center.

Enroll by mail

Complete the Employee Health Benefits Election Form (standard form 2809) to enroll.

As a PSE, after one year of service, when you enroll in the Consumer Driven Option, the U.S. Postal Service pays 75% of the premium. With other plans, you would pay 100% of the premium.

If you are newly hired and need to enroll in health insurance, or if you experience a qualifying life event (QLE)—such as marriage, birth of a child, or loss of other coverage—you can make changes outside of Open Season.

Continuation of coverage for postal employees

If you leave the Postal Service—or lose coverage because you no longer qualify as a family member—you may be eligible for temporary continuation of coverage (TCC).
