HIGH OPTION
routine dental care
The High Option pays 70% of the Plan allowance for dental office visits, exams, cleanings, x-rays, fluoride treatment, fillings, and simple extractions. Members pay 30% of the cost, plus any difference between our allowance and the billed amount (no deductible).
CONSUMER DRIVEN OPTION
Save 20% to 50% on most procedures at thousands of participating dentists nationwide. Transparent pricing with fee schedules let you know what each treatment costs before your appointment.
Use your Personal Care Account (PCA)—up to $400 for Self or $800 for Self Plus One and Self & Family—to pay for dental care each calendar year.
APWU Health Plan Dental Insurance Plan
The APWU Health Plan Dental Insurance Plan is available to APWU members, associate members and eligible dependents. Under this plan, you will pay a separate premium, and insured members will receive benefits from both in-network and out-of-network dentists.
Benefits include:
- $0 deductible for preventive services.
- $50 deductible per person (or a $150 family deductible) for basic and major services.
- The Plan pays 80% of negotiated fees for in-network dentists and reasonable and customary fees for out-of-network dentists for fillings and other basic services.
- The Plan pays 50% of negotiated fees for in-network dentists and reasonable and customary fees for out-of-network dentists for crowns, oral surgery, and other major services.

Enrollment is open throughout the year for eligible members, which includes:
- APWU members in good standing
- Active postal workers
- Postal support employees (PSEs) who work at least 20 hours a week
- Postal retirees
- Eligible dependents
Our Dental Insurance Plan is not available to federal employees or retirees covered under the Federal Employees Health Benefits (FEHB) Program.
